The current issue of International Artist Magazine June/July Vol 115 features a 2 page article on my step-by-step painting process in the Art of the Portrait section.
Portrait Society of America Conference 2017
It was a wonderful experience to be part of the Artist to Artist Face Off at the Portrait Society of America Conference in April. I had a great time and it felt good to have a familiar activity like painting to do and contribute to the conference with. It was also an exciting, hectic event with all sorts of familiar and unfamiliar faces to catch up with and to meet for the first time. It’s really a fantastic event that mixes so many artists and facets of the arts community together into a fun and highly creative educational showcase.
Here are some photos from the conference. I “borrowed” some of these photos from the Portrait Society of America’s Facebook page and from Matthew Innes’ Underpaintings website, which is a great online art resource that provides complete coverage of the Portrait Society of America conference every year. I hope you check them both out to learn more!
I’m excited to be participating as part of the distinguished faculty for the Portrait Society of America Conference this year. The conference is taking place in Atlanta from April 20th to 23rd over a 4 day event. On Thursday I will be painting during the highly anticipated event, The Artist to Artist Face Off which will be a group 3 hr portrait painting demonstration in front of a live audience. The paintings will be auctioned off later to benefit the PSOA scholarship program. On Friday I will be doing portfolio critiques and on Saturday I will be painting a 7 hr portrait with fellow artist Ricky Mujica in the exhibit hall. To learn more about this popular and fun annual event that draws portrait artists from around the world, go to the Portrait Society of America website. You can view the complete schedule there and download a copy for yourself.
